Many people understandably think with their heart at the beginning and when it comes time to pay the fee may rethink their decision, we want this to happen at the beginning and not after we have already spent the money and time to send them their "adopted" pup. We want our adopters to be 100% committed when this decision is made.
When our pup is "adopted" our partners begin the process of further vetting, paperwork from Vet for flight(Health Certificate), quarantine, scheduling transportation and purchasing crate and items for flight. Health Certificates, quarantine and vetting is only valid for a short period of time and would have to be redone if the adoption fell through. This not only costs money but volunteer time that is even more precious.
If an adoption falls through our pup may also miss out on the chance for another loving home during that time when they were "adopted".
For some people this may not be an option and we encourage local adoption for those people as this is a standard operating procedure in international rescue.
Everything! Each pup is sent to the Veterinarian and checked for disease to include heartworm, parvo, distemper, corona. They are then vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Assuming the pup is healthy they will then go to a boarding facility or if lucky, a foster home. We will then do all import paperwork and fees to bring the dog to the US, and pay for their flight home.
The Barky Bunch is an international rescue with volunteers located in various places within the United States. Our dogs are generally in South Korea until adopted. Once we find a home for one of our pups in the United States, we will coordinate all flight and import arrangements. The adopter will pick up their pup at one of the following airports; Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Washington D.C.
Now that we have an adoption we will start looking for a flight to one of the airports listed here ; San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Washington D.C.
Why only these airports? We only fly them on non-stop flights from Seoul.
Our dogs fly with flight volunteers who have graciously offered to let our pup fly on their ticket. Because we need a flight volunteer we never know exactly when our pup will fly until we have a home lined up and start looking. Best answer is 10 days- 6 weeks but that is still just a best guess.
Foster! Adopt! Donate! Volunteer! Do you have a special skill? Are you a Social media expert? Are you someone who would like to help but are not sure how? Send us a message!! We would love to incorporate more volunteers.
That is our goal! As we become more established we would love to pull dogs out of Kill pounds! We welcome foster applications to help us make this part of our dream a reality!
This is not the most optimal way we would like this to happen. A road trip to meet your pup at the airport can be an amazing bonding experience. If this is 100% necessary you can discuss this with us, but this can be costly for you to make these extra arrangements and keeping our dog safe is most important !
They need help desperately. There is still a dog meat trade in South East Asia, South Korea this is still legal although it is regulated by the Government. In a country that still kills dogs for food you can imagine that their animal welfare laws are not enforced as they should be, breeding and illegal dog meat farms are not uncommon. In their many kill pounds there are dogs of every breed and age killed daily. The horrors most of them endured in a breeding farm or from a person who dumped them in the shelter or on the street have been well documented. We are not only rescuing dogs with the help of local activists, we are supporting the amazing rescues in South Korea that are working for change. As bad as it can be there, some of the most loving and rescue hearted people can be found in these countries.
