We are currently focused on rescuing dogs from South Korea, we have a dependable and trusted network there. South Korea continues to sponsor a legal dog meat trade. South Korea is host to many illegal dog meat farms and puppy mills, these are horrific. This leads to a country where mixed & full breed dogs are disposable and the shelters are overpopulated with dogs of every size, age and breed. These are almost always kill shelters and dogs that find themselves here are not given much time because of the high number coming through. The dogs we are able to rescue only represent a miniscule fraction of the need but its everything to the rescued dogs and their families.
Our 4 Barky Bunch dogs on our logo, are all rescues from China, 3 were rescued from the meat trade and one was blind and found injured in a dirty dark shelter, terrified. Now they are living happy full lives, loved and spoiled forever with us. This is our mission.
Our partners in South Korea are amazing rescuers and work tirelessly to change the lives of these dogs and the mindset of the people.
Often these dogs are rescued from horrific circumstances resulting in tragic and heartbreaking stories.
We are so grateful for these devoted rescuers and volunteers. You may ask why not adopt them to South Korea? Over 130,000 dogs are discarded to the street or shelters annually. Why go to a shelter when you can buy a full breed Pomeranian puppy for $200 at the local store? We have some of these same issues in the United States but yet we have better laws and enforcement, though there is tremendous room for improvement.
We would like to highlight that you will also encounter some of the most dog loving people in Southeast Asia. We are thankful for the many animal loving people in South Korea that partner with us daily.
We occasionally receive inquiries about our purpose and mission. Our calling is to liberate and save as many dogs from Southeast Asia as we are able. Our current Work has us rescuing dogs in South Korea but we believe that our mission will expand to other areas of need in the future. After witnessing many of the horrors most of these discarded dogs suffer, we couldn't look away. We are NOT looking away.
If you find your devotion more USA centric, we believe that is amazing and if you need the contact information of rescues near you, we are happy to provide our recommendations. We are confident they would be grateful to receive your volunteer request, receive your donation or receive your foster application! We are grateful to our US rescues for all they do!
As we grow we do intend to be able to rescue here in the United States in the future.
